Types Of Care

Pre School

The Pre School Room is set up in a way to encourage children to make decisions and choose activities for themselves. The daily program is introduced to teach routine to the children’s day. They are given the opportunity to participate, investigative science, table top activities, music and imaginative play with a quiet area provided for reading.

The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides a free year of early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age. In general, children are eligible for the ECCE scheme if they are aged over 3 years on or before 30th of June of the year that they will be starting.

The Toddler Inn Pre-School

We provide an appropriate pre-school curriculum from 9.15-12.15 daily which adheres to Aistear & the principles of Síolta, the national framework for early years care and education. Weekly and monthly curriculum plans are also drawn up which give parents an insight into what types of activities their children will be exposed to and what they will be learning. Part of our Pre School curriculum is the implementation of the Montessori teaching method. The Montessori Method is an educational method for teaching children, based on theories of child development originated by Italian educator Maria Montessori in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The method is characterised by an emphasis on self-directed activity by the child and a lot of observation by the teacher. It stresses the importance of adapting the child’s learning environment to his or her developmental level, and of the role of physical activity in absorbing academic concepts and practical skills.

Each day your child’s Daily Diary is filled in by their carers giving you a full detail on their eating, personal hygiene, play and learning activities and any necessary medical administration. There is also a section for parents to remark on their child’s day or reminders.
